As we collectively live in ways that bring about more Peace, Love, Joy, Balance and Gratitude in the here and now, there are many forces we must navigate to maintain clarity, depth and coherence in our thoughts, words and actions. Amidst many other benefits, our foundation and regular creative and spiritual practices empower us to stay connected, focused and content. Having a framework developed by and connected to communities that have been and continue to organize for peace, love, joy and collective liberation for many generations further provides stable common ground to interact with, “the powers that be,” (surprise — it’s actually us!) so we may stay focused, content and continue on the path of peace, love, joy and collective liberation for ourselves, Mother Earth and all beings.
The Just Transition framework is one of the most comprehensive and elegant economic frameworks we have seen, representing the most salient features of an extractive economy, a regenerative living economy and the process of transition from extractive to regenerative. As part of our work with Decolonize Daily, we were grateful to receive a warm welcome to the Just Transition community and framework at the Protecting Mother Earth conference held in the Pacific Northwest on Nisqually land in 2018. “Plenary sessions focused the biggest environmental campaigns of our time, covering themes including the rights of Mother Earth, food sovereignty, and resisting extreme energy, encompassed within a ‘just transition’ framework to create new sources of well paid employment in healthy communities as we move towards a fossil-free future” (from Cultural Survival’s coverage of the PME conference). Creating new sources of well paid employment in healthy communities is a primary focus of our Regenerative Movie Night Series. We have made beautiful connections and are organizing in community to better understand how we can collectively talk about and build a living regenerative economic community serving people and planet where, “well-paid employment,” would be in complementary currencies/exchanges rooted in the aina and principles of personal sovereignty that ensure lifelong essentials such as peaceful housing, healthy food, holistic healthcare, creative & educational resources and maintaining happy relationships.
